5. WELL COVER <br /> a. During construction of the well , or before the pump is <br /> installed , or while repairs are being made, or if for any <br /> other reason the top of the well casing is exposed , it must <br /> be protected from foreign objects or contamination entering <br /> the well by use of a seal or cover. <br /> 6. INSTALL=ON OF CASING <br /> a. Damage to the casing section and joints is to be avoided <br /> during installation. The joints must be structurally sound <br /> and water tight. Size and thickness of the casing shall be <br /> as shown on the drawings . <br /> 7 . PERFORATION <br /> a. The perforating of casing should not unduly weaken or deform <br /> the casing. The casing shall not be perforated within fifty <br /> (50) feet of the ground surface if the total depth of the <br /> well is greater than fifty (50) feet . The upper most <br /> ;perforation shall be below an impervious stratum in an aquifer <br /> of good quality water. <br /> 8'. WELL DIEVMORNITNT <br /> �. Developing, re-developing or conditioning of a well shall be <br /> accomplished by a method that will not cause damage to the <br /> ground water aquifer. Care shell be exercised to prevent <br /> occurrence of adverse subsurface conditions that may destroy <br /> barriers to the vertical movement of water, thus permitting <br /> exchange of water between aquifers . <br /> 9. SOUNDING T'JRE AND AIR V;ilT PIPE <br /> a. A sounding tube or access pipe shall be installed throu�-n <br /> the surface seal and welded flush with the inside of the <br /> casing. The upper end shall be provided with a water .tight <br /> screw cap. <br /> b. The fill pipe on a gravel packed well shall be water tight <br /> at the ground surface and provided with a grater tight screw <br /> cap. <br /> c. If a commercially produced sanitary seal is used, a sounding <br /> tube will not be reauired -if the sanitary seal is designed <br /> with a means of entrance into the well for chlorinating and <br /> sounding. <br /> 10. SA,dPLING TAP <br /> a. Ylithin three (3) feet of the pump on the discharge line , a <br /> tap shall be installed for the purpose of obtaining water for <br /> laboratory examination. See drawing for details . <br /> (42) <br />
