11. DRILLING MND AND WATER <br /> a. Maud and water used in drilling shall be free from contamination <br /> and organic matter. <br /> 12. GRAVEL <br /> a. Gravel used in gravel pecked wells shall be washed and cone <br /> from a source approved by the District Health Officer. Other <br /> material may be used on approval of the District Health <br /> Officer. <br /> 13. ' CASING <br /> a. The casing shall be of sufficient strength to �•rithstand forces <br /> and stresses imposed during installation. Steel casing equal <br /> to or exceeding the thickness given shall be used <br /> for permanent installations . Casing sh2.11 be manufactured in <br /> accordance to *ASTM2, API or Ai-T-%TA Specification for well casing. <br /> Other material may be used an, approval of the District Health <br /> Officer. <br /> b. Damaged or defective material shall not be used. <br /> c. All casings shall be water tight except for the perforations . <br /> d. A drive shoe shall be used on all driven casings . <br /> e. If a temporary conductor pipe is used to prevent caving in <br /> during; placement of the seal or during drilling, it may be <br /> left in place or removed as the seal is placed . <br /> *ASTM - American Society for Testing and Materials ; API - American <br /> Petroleum Institute; A7rTWA - American Water Works Association <br /> D. DEPTH OF WELL <br /> The Contractor's bid price shall include all work, labor and <br /> materials necessary to drill and complete a 500 gallon per minute <br /> well to a depth of 400 feet.. The contractor shall provide a unit <br /> price per foot , including all labor and materials , to be used to <br /> increase or decrease the depth from 400 feet. <br /> E. PERMITS <br /> The Contractor shall secure and pay for all permits as required <br /> by the San Joaquin Local Health District. In addition, the <br /> Contractor shall be responsible for constructing his work in <br /> accordance with the ordinances of the Local Health District . <br /> (43) <br />
