complete the chain -of -custody documentation in the field, arrange laboratory
analytical testing, and submit the samples to the laboratory for testing,
i) prepare the SHSP and monitor on-site health and safety issues,
j) in conjunction with Ninyo & Moore staff, select proposed exploration points
(trench and boring locations) based on available site information,
k) in conjunction with Ninyo & Moore staff, mark the proposed boring and trench
locations in the field. Boring and trench locations will be staked, marked with
white paint, and uniquely identified (e.g. T-1)
1) in conjunction with Ninyo & Moore staff, locate by GPS, plot on the site map,
photograph, and provide written descriptions of pertinent surficial site features
including areas of illegal dumping, depressions, areas of suspected buried
wastes, etc.
The CIWMB's CIA Investigation Consultant, Ninyo & Moore (IWMB Contract IWM-C0130) will
generally perform the following activities:
a. subcontract drilling and backhoe services with experienced, 40 -hour
HAZWOPPER trained operators,
b. provide 40 -hour HAZWOPPER trained, experienced registered geologists and/or
geologists working under the direct supervision of a registered geologist to direct,
oversee, and log the borings and trenches,
G. review previously prepared documents, site investigation reports, and other
available data to evaluate the types, and suspected locations of buried wastes,
and summarize the information in this work plan,
d. review historical aerial photographs to obtain information on the locations
(horizontal) extent of the buried wastes,
e. in conjunction with CIWMB staff, collect representative burned refuse and soil
samples to characterize and evaluate the extent of the wastes,
f. during drilling, collect relatively undisturbed samples at approximately 5 -foot
depth intervals or as deemed necessary and log these samples and the drill
cuttings on the boring logs,
g. during trench excavating, collect appropriate samples and log these samples and
the trench excavations on the trench excavation logs,
h, prepare Daily Field Reports or field logbooks that will be provided to the CIWMB
project engineer shortly after completion of field activities,
i. provide the CIWMB with boring and trench excavation logs for each of the
exploration points, accompanied by Daily Field Reports, and photographs,
j. contact BNSF railroad personnel or their representative to obtain information
regarding permits and restrictions associated with performing environmental
investigation work in the railroad right-of-way, and obtain the necessary permit,
k. notify Underground Service Alert (USA) and a private utility locator to identify and
mark in the field nearby subsurface utilities. If subsurface utilities are present at
or in the immediate vicinity of the proposed exploration areas, the boring or
trench will be moved, and the adjusted locations approved by CIWMB staff.
Boring and trench locations (sample locations) will be surveyed using GPS and
photographed by CIWMB and Ninyo & Moore staff.
