General Order 4089-164 <br /> a. Any inmate who answers affirmatively to Section G.1 above shall be housed <br /> separately from all other inmates. The cell shall be marked with a red flag <br /> indicating that an infested inmate is being housed there. <br /> b. The cell used to house the inmate with the infestation shall not be used for <br /> holding another inmate until the appropriate measures have been taken. See <br /> General Order#089-076. <br /> c. Medications and instructions for handling the inmate and his clothing will be <br /> provided by the County Jail medical staff. <br /> H. Mentally Disordered Inmates <br /> 1. Any inmate, who because of a mental condition appears to be a danger to <br /> himself/herself or others or if he/she appears gravely disabled shall be considered to be a <br /> mentally disordered inmate. Such an inmate shall be transported to the San Joaquin <br /> County Jail as soon as is reasonably possibly for examination by a Psychiatric Social <br /> Worker. If, in the opinion of the arresting officer,the inmate should be transported to <br /> the San Joaquin County Crisis Center,the inmate may be transported there in lieu of the <br /> County Jail. <br /> I. Administrative Segregation <br /> 1. Those inmates who are determined to be prone to escape, prone to assault staff or <br /> other inmates, or likely to need protection from other inmates shall be transported to the <br /> San Joaquin County Jail as soon as is reasonably practical. Pending transportation to the <br /> County Jail, such inmates should be segregated from the general population if possible. <br /> J. Use of Detoxification Cell <br /> 1. Cell Number"I", the padded cell maybe used for the holding of inmates who area <br /> threat to their own safety or the safety of others due to their state of intoxication. <br /> 2. Such inmates shall be removed from the detoxification cell when they are able to <br /> continue with the processing. <br /> 3. Intermittent direct visual observation of inmates in detoxification cell is conducted <br /> and documented no less than every half hour. When visually observing inmates in the <br /> detoxification cell the watch commander, booking officer or person conducting the <br /> check should look for breathing, seizure activity, level of consciousness and nausea <br /> and/or vomiting. Medical attention shall be obtained immediately for inmates <br /> displaying signs of medical distress. <br /> 4. The times of the above jail checks shall be noted on the Watch Commander's Daily <br /> Log. <br /> 5. No inmate shall remain in a detoxification cell for more than six (6) hours without a <br /> recorded evaluation by medical or custody staff. <br /> 3. <br />
