PRISONER CHECKS <br /> When anv_one is in custodv, there will be visual checks made of their cells. These checks may be made at <br /> am-time. However, no more than one half hour should elapse between checks. Notation of the time the <br /> checks were made should be made on the check-sheet. The check-sheet shall be retained in the Sheriffs <br /> Court Services-Manteca office for one(1)year. <br /> CUSTODY SEGREGATION <br /> STATUTORY SEGREGATION (P.C. 4001, 4002) <br /> Statutory segregation exists to separate inmates for their own safety. Examples of statuton-segregation <br /> are: <br /> 1. Persons held as material witnesses or under an order imposing punishment for contempt shall <br /> be kept separate from persons charged with a crime. <br /> 2. Persons in the Sheriffs custody for civil warrants shall be segregated from persons charged with <br /> a crime. <br /> 3. Mates and females shall be confined separately. Male custodies may be searched by female <br /> officers. Male officers may make a pat down for weapons if a female is taken into custody. If <br /> a female deputy is available,or the matron is available,they shall conduct the search. <br /> 4. Juveniles shall not be confined with adults(WC 508). Juveniles are considered those persons <br /> under the age of 18. <br /> ADMINISTRATIVE SEGREGATION <br /> Administrative segregation assists in jail management in the care and control of the unusual prisoner and <br /> shall be provided as follows: <br /> 1. Complete segregation shall be provided for those prisoners who may cause harm to. or be harmed <br /> by, other prisoners. <br /> �. MentalIN ill prisoners likely to cause injury to themselves or others and require immediate care. <br /> treatment,or restraint, shall be segregated(according to 5150 W&I Code), until transportation to <br /> to the San Joaquin County Jail or San Joaquin County Mental Health Facility can be arranged. <br /> Such person will be transported as soon as possible. <br /> 3. Prisoners in custodv bv_ the State of California(CYA or CDC)will not be housed the General <br /> Population Prisoners. <br /> 3 <br />
