4. Prisoners whose dispo sheet indicated suicidal tendencies shall be closely monitored. Checks <br /> shall be made at a minimum of 15 minute intervals and so recorded. Deputies shall ensure <br /> these prisoners do not have in their possession any items that could be used to attempt <br /> suicide or do harm to themselves. The only articles that should be in the prisoner's possession <br /> are his jail issued clothing and court papers. <br /> NOTE: It should be noted that any prisoner at any time may become suicidal. If this happens. <br /> the prisoner will immediately be placed in a separate cell and monitored as above. In both <br /> instances, the prisoner should be returned to the county jail as soon as possible. <br /> 5. Prisoners brought in by allied agencies will not be housed,�yith prisoners from the county jail. <br /> The prisoners brought in by allied agencies have not been satisfactorily screened and searched. <br /> 6. Segregation of prisoners shall not be based on race, creed,color. or national origin. <br /> 7. Medical segregation shall be implemented when instructions are provided for such by the <br /> County Jail Medical/Psychiatric Unit. <br /> SECURITY AND CONTROL OF PRISONERS <br /> The Cell doors are to remain locked at all times when the cell are occupied. Keys to the cells shall either <br /> be in the possession of the deputies or left in a designated area of the Sheriff's Court Service Office. At no <br /> time are keys to be left in the lock or in such a place accessible to a prisoner <br /> The gate to the sallvport shall be closed and locked prior to the loading and/or unloading of prisoners <br /> from the van. <br /> A security door,which needs a key to open it,both from outside and inside, is located between the hallway <br /> and the sallyport. When prisoners are in the courthouse. this door shall remain closed to give added <br /> security. <br /> When transporting prisoners, the deputy will handcuff and leg shackle the prisoners. At the transporting <br /> deputy's discretion, the prisoners may be handcuffed in front. Cuffs shall be double-locked to prevent <br /> escape and/or tightening down of the cuff. Handcuffing of Honor Farm prisoners is also up to the <br /> discretion of the transporting deputy. <br /> Roll call should betaken at the jail prior to transporting to court. An inmate count should also be <br /> conducted prior to returning to the jail. <br /> The doors of the transport van shall be locked«hen prisoners are on board. These doors are the doors <br /> used for the entre and exit of prisoners only. <br /> The deputy that removes custodies from the holding cell and returns them to the holding cell shall not be <br /> armed. This will ensure that if a problem arises this deputy's weapon will not be readily available to the <br /> custody/custodies. <br /> 4 <br />
