Asbestos <br />Federal regulations define "Asbestos Containing Material (ACM)" as containing 1.0% or <br />greater of asbestos by weight. <br />California OSHA defines "Asbestos Containing Construction Material (ACCM)" as 0.1% <br />or greater asbestos by weight. Note: neither Federal nor California OSHA define a <br />regulatory level for compliance with employee exposure Requirements. <br />California Business & Professions Code Division 3, Chapter 9. Contractors, Article 4. <br />Classifications 7058.5. (a) - No contractor shall engage in asbestos-related work, as <br />defined in Section 6501.8 of the Labor Code, which involves one hundred square feet or <br />more of surface area of asbestos containing materials, unless the qualifier for the license <br />passes an asbestos certification examination. <br />Local Air Quality District define asbestos as <br />RACM — Regulated Asbestos Containing Material means (a) friable ACM, (b) <br />Category I non-friable ACM that has become friable, (c) Category I non-friable ACM <br />that will be subjected to sanding, grinding, cutting or, abrading, or (d) Category II <br />non-friable ACM that has a high probability of becoming or has become crumbled, <br />pulverized, or reduced to powder by the forces expected to act on the material in the <br />course of demolition or renovation operations. <br />Category I non-friable asbestos-containing material (ACM) means asbestos- <br />containing packings, gaskets, resilient floor cover, and asphalt roofing products <br />containing more than 1 percent asbestos. <br />Category II non-friable ACM means any material excluding Category I non-friable <br />ACM containing more than 1 percent asbestos. <br />Written notification to the district is required for the following: <br />Any regulated demolition, whether asbestos is present. <br />Any regulated renovation in which the following will be disturbed: <br />160 square feet or more of regulated asbestos-containing materials or, <br />260 linear feet or more of regulated asbestos-containing pipe insulation. <br />SURVEY METHODOLOGY <br />Sample Collection: <br />A walk through of the subject site was conducted to develop a sample collection strategy based <br />on site conditions. Samples were collected from debris atop the surface from both alleged <br />locations.
