Aluminum Hydraulic Shoring for Trenches (This Requires Pre-Notification to a Principal in <br /> Charge). <br /> E. Aluminum hydraulic shoring for trenches must be approved by a Registered Professional <br /> Engineer in accordance with 29CFR 1926 Subpart P, Appendix D. <br /> F. Alternatives to Timber Shoring <br /> G. Trench shields and boxes must be pre-manufactured with listed load ratings or designed, <br /> stamped and constructed under the direction of a Registered Professional Engineer. <br /> H. Protective systems designed to protect employees in excavations deeper than 20 feet must be <br /> designed and stamped by a Registered Professional Engineer. <br /> I. Excavations will be clearly identified and barricaded to keep unauthorized individuals out. <br /> 5. Permit Authorization and Inspections <br /> A. Ensure that the following issues are addressed as appropriate: <br /> I. Employee training/briefings. <br /> 1I. Electrical safety. <br /> I1I. Surface encumbrances. <br /> IV. Underground installations and utilities. <br /> V. Protective systems. <br /> VI. Access and egress. <br /> VII. Exposure to vehicular traffic. <br /> VIII. Exposure to falling loads. <br /> IX. Warning systems for mobile equipment. <br /> X. Testing for hazardous atmospheres. <br /> XI. Emergency rescue equipment. <br /> XII. Protection from hazards associated with water accumulation. <br /> XIII. Stability of adjacent structures. <br /> XIV. Protection of employees from loose rock. <br /> XV. Inspections. <br /> XVI. Fall protection. <br /> B. Require daily inspections of excavations to be conducted by Competent Person(7.3.1). <br /> 6. Training/Briefings <br /> A. Conduct daily safety briefings for all employees associated with excavation activities and <br /> document. <br /> B.
