The tag contains the following information: <br /> <br />Sample number <br />Material type <br />Project name and project number <br />Sampling inspector <br />Date sampled <br />Test(s) to be performed <br /> <br />3.2.5 Soil Sample Processing <br /> <br />The QA/QC Inspector is responsible for the timely processing of soil test samples. The QA/QC <br />Manager determines which samples are tested on site and which are tested off site. The <br />determination is made based on manpower available, equipment available, complexity of test, and <br />time available for results. For expediency, samples to be tested off site should be shipped the same <br />day as they are obtained. <br /> <br />3.3 Field Density Tests <br /> <br />3.3.1 Test Numbering <br /> <br />The QA/QC Inspector is responsible for maintaining test numbers and results for field density tests <br />performed by the nuclear moisture density method (ASTM D2922). All other testing is identified <br />through the sample number (Section 3.2.3). The QA/QC Inspectors will maintain field books that <br />identify soil segments, data tested, QA/QC Inspector performing the test, and sequential test number. <br />Each soil segment will have a unique series of numbers (i.e. general earthfill 1000 – 1999, clay liner <br />2000-2999). No test number can be repeated for a given soil segment, and re-tests of failing tests <br />must be given a letter suffix along with the original test number (i.e., re-tests for a failing Test #1201 <br />would be: 1201A, 1201B, etc.). Test data and results must be filled out on the field density test <br />form. <br />3.3.2 Test Locations <br /> <br />The intent of the CQA program is to provide confidence that the earthwork materials and work <br />conform to the technical specifications. To meet this intent, the QA/QC Inspector will perform <br />density tests of earthfills, clay liner, and any other soil products used during construction. Density <br />tests must be located at various elevations and uniformly dispersed throughout the entire plan <br />dimensions of the fill. Density test locations must be chosen without bias; however, additional <br />testing can be performed in any areas that are suspect, marginal, or appear to be of poor quality. <br />During the progress of the work, density test locations will be plotted on a drawing by the QA/QC <br />Inspector to verify that no significant areas are untested. The drawing becomes part of the CQA <br />report. <br /> <br />3.4 Monitoring and Testing Requirements <br /> <br />Earthwork components of the construction are summarized in Paragraph 3.1 of this section.
