Project No. 10-1768 AdvancedGeo
An Employee-Owned Company
5.2.4. Corrosion Protection - 40 CFR 112.8(c)(4)
This section is not applicable since there are no underground storage tanks (USTs) at
this Facility.
5.2.5. Partially Buried and Bunkered Storage Tanks - (40 CFR 112.8(c)(5))
This section is not applicable since there are no partially buried or bunkered storage tanks
at this Facility.
5.2.6. Inspections and Tests - 40 CFR 112.8(c)(6)
The scope and schedule of certified inspections and tests performed on the Facility's
ASTs are specified in STI Standard SP-001. A 21-year inspection cycle for the double
walled AST for fuel and 5-year inspection/testing interval might be required for the waste
oil AST. The single wall AST might require a 10-year inspection cycle.
Records of certified tank inspections are kept at the Facility for at least three years, unless
otherwise specified. Shell test comparison records are retained for the life of the tanks.
Table 9 summarizes inspections and tests performed on ASTs.
5.2.7. Heating Coils - 40 CFR 112.8(c)(7)
This section is not applicable since there are no ASTs equipped with heating coils at this
Facility.
5.2.8. Overfill Prevention Systems - 40 CFR 112.8(c)(8)
All tanks are equipped with a direct-reading level gauge, with the exception of the ASTs
with direct fill or top filling capabilities. General secondary containment is provided in the
event of overfills, as described in this Plan.
AST 1 through AST 3 for fuel have audible overfill protection warning systems. AST 4 for
motor oil has a direct-reading level gauge. AST 8 at the tire shop has a direct-reading
level gauge. Direct-reading level gauges are tested on a daily basis. Venting capacity is
suitable for the fill and withdrawal rates.
Tanks with direct fill (top filling) will be visually inspected for the approximate ullage and
calculated before filling. Then filled with oil until visually noted as sufficiently full. These
tanks include main shop area motor oil/gear oil storage tanks, the DEF tanks in the
secondary containment area and tire shop ASTs for new oil products. The 500-gallon
waste oil tank at the main shop is also visually inspected for ullage.
