This can be submitted <br />through a Safety Condition Report that is available through any office of the <br />Department <br /> The employee can notify the Department regarding safety and/or health hazard <br />and do so anonymously by not including their name <br /> The Department will either investigate the concern or refer it to the appropriate <br />area in the Department for action <br /> Employees will not be harassed or otherwise discriminated against because of <br />their communication of a health or safety hazard <br /> <br />1.5.4 Violence in the Workplace <br /> <br /> The County Board of Supervisors has adopted a policy on the subject of Violence <br />in the Workplace <br /> Please refer to Appendix B of the Department’s IIPP for further information on <br />this subject <br /> <br />1.6 Procedures <br />The Department recognizes that working conditions are an ever changing situation that <br />requires constant vigilance by all employees. Employees must be aware of and report <br />on issues that may increase the risk of injury or illness while on the job. <br />1.6.1 Hazardous Conditions and Routine Safety Inspections <br />As part of the effort to ensure safety, the Department will conduct periodic <br />inspections of the workplace. These inspections are used to identify conditions <br />that would present an increase in workplace injury or illness. <br /> <br /> Hazard Identification <br />o Imminent Danger – a condition exists where there is reasonable <br />certainty that, without immediate remedy, a risk of dangerous injury <br />or illness in the workplace could result <br />o Serious – a condition exists where there is substantial probability <br />that, without immediate remedy, a risk of serious injury or illness in <br />the workplace could result <br />o Other than serious – a hazard that may present a direct relationship <br />to job safety that may contribute to an injury or illness in the <br />workplace could result <br /> General Inspections <br />o Are conducted for the purpose of identifying and evaluating hazards
