San Joaquin County <br />Department of Public Works <br />County of San Joaquin Dept of Public Works IIPP Rev 2020-01-31.docx P a g e | 11 <br />o May be periodically scheduled to find and begin to correct unsafe <br />conditions <br />o Are conducted by supervisors and/or members of the Department <br />Safety Committee <br />o May be required as the result of an employee’s report or request for <br />an inspection of the workplace area <br /> Periodic Inspections <br />o be prompted by the introduction of a new substance, process, <br />procedure or equipment that may present a new occupational safety <br />and health hazard <br />o result when a supervisor or member or the Department Safety <br />Committee is made aware of a new or previously unrecognized <br />hazard or condition <br /> <br />1.6.2 Accident or Incident Investigation <br />It is essential that all work-related accidents or incidents, including near misses, <br />that happen while an employee is on the job, be reported to the employee’s <br />supervisor or manager within eight (8) hours of the occurrence. If the <br />accident/incident occurs after normal business hours or on the weekend, the <br />report will need to be made on the next business day. <br /> <br /> Work Incurred Injury and/or Illness: <br />o When the employee suspects that they may have suffered an injury <br />or illness while on the job, the employee will notif y an on-duty <br />supervisor or manager of an accident or incident within eight (8) <br />hours of the injury or illness <br />o Please follow the Injury and/or Illness Reporting Process in Appendix <br />A <br /> Motor Vehicle Accidents: <br />If a county employee is operating a vehicle while conducting county <br />business and is in an automobile accident, the following steps shall be <br />taken: <br />o Follow training as provided in the County’s Safe Driver Training Class <br />o Employees involved in an injury accident should call 911 <br />o For all non-injury accidents, the employee should call the Sheriff’s <br />radio communications at 468-4401 (please refer to the “Notice to <br />Drivers” envelope in the glove compartment of County vehicles for <br />additional instructions in case of an accident)
