Wastewater generated
through contact with the tipping floor is pumped into a tank and reused by spraying directly onto
trash for dust control.

3.4.11 Signage
Signs directing customers to the LTS are posted along Lovelace Road, at the point of access to
the station, along the entry lanes and at the scale house. An entry sign is posted at all gate
entrances.

Delivery hours, acceptable and non-acceptable materials, emergency phone numbers, speed
limits, and gate fees, the location of tipping and parking areas and the allowable direction of
traffic flow are clearly posted.

Within the MRF, signs inform users of safety requirements.

3.4.12 Firefighting Equipment
Fire suppression equipment is continuously available at the LTS. A booster pump and fire water
storage tank for fire suppression provide water for sprinkler systems and standpipes in the
buildings. Fire hydrants and hoses are installed throughout the Facility (Figure 4). Firefighting
equipment is available and can be readily accessed. The facility is under the protection of the
Manteca-Lathrop Fire District.

3.4.13 Lighting
Exterior lighting is provided on buildings, in storage areas, in traffic areas and in parking. The
majority of activity within the facility will be performed during the hours of 6 am to 5 pm.

The MRF is provided with overhead lighting, and also translucent roof panels (“sky lights”) and in
and exterior walls to allow natural light to augment the artificial lighting provided.
