Operators Guide for manufacturers limit). Do not operate at>90%of upper
amperage limit for extended periods of time.
Maintenance
Initial Break-In Period
After the first week of running the system, you must check each paddle for tightness
(T20,T30,T42) (see adjusting/replacing paddle). The THOR, including Mega THOR,
paddles are set at the factory with Rev-Lock nuts and do not require tightening.
It is also recommended that you check all belts for correct tension.
Bearings
1.All bearings have been lubricated at the factory. It is important that the bearings
are not over greased.Over greasing could result in bearing seal damage. Included in
the electronic manual from the bearing manufacturer is a list of recommended
lubricants.
2. Bearings should be checked periodically for excessive heat or wear. Bearings that
are damaged will overheat or have a grinding noise while the machine is in
operation. If either occur, stop the machine immediately.A damaged bearing could
seize, causing serious damage to the shaft. Call your local bearing representative or
Scott Equipment for replacement or service.
3. Periodically check the set screws for proper tension. This will ensure that the shaft
is not turning about the inside of the race of the bearing.
Gear Reducer
Gear reducers are shipped without lubricant to comply with ICC Regulations. Be sure
to examine the oil level in the Gear Reducer prior to start up.The recommended
level and type of lubricant is listed in the electronic manual from the gear reducer
manufacturer.
Shaft Seals
Double Stuffing Box Seals
All Turbo Separators are equipped with Double Box seals. These seals are fitted at
the factory and require very little maintenance. Monthly-visually inspect the shaft
coming out of the stuffing box seal for moisture or contamination. Annually-replace
the oakum stuffing box material with new rope of material by removing the top
cover/screws.
141 Page
