Approval and Review -Continue <br />Service Training Sign In Sheet shall be submitted to the Health Program Advisor <br />(HPA) to be included with the original, signed updated Inmate Medical Services <br />Policies & Procedures (IMSP&P). <br />The originals of all signed IMSPP chapters will be maintained by the HPA. <br />The CEO has the overall operations responsibility of the program. The <br />Correctional Health Services Administrator I (CHSA-1) and the Associate <br />Warden -Health Care Operations have the joint responsibility for the <br />implementation, training and Quality Management of the Program. <br />V. Methods <br />A. Types of Medical Waste Generated: <br />1. Laboratory Wastes: Specimens or pathological and microbiological <br />waste containing blood or other infected materials. <br />2. Blood or Body Fluids: Liquid blood elements or other regulated <br />body fluids, or articles contaminated with blood or body fluids. <br />3. Sharps: Syringes, needles, blades, broken glass, microscope <br />slides. <br />4. Surgical Specimens: Human tissues removed surgically or by <br />autopsy/biopsy. <br />5. Isolation Waste: Waste contaminated with excretion, exudates, or <br />secretions from humans who are isolated due to highly <br />communicable diseases. <br />6. Pharmaceutical Wastes. Unidentifiable loose pills, partially used <br />and empty "unit of use" items (inhalers, creams/ointments, eye <br />drops, etc.). Partially used injectables. <br />Deuel Vocational Institution (DVI) is registered as a Large Quantity Waste <br />Generator. The estimated monthly amount of Medical Waste generated is <br />approximately 300 pounds. The estimated monthly amount of Pharmaceutical <br />Waste generated is approximately 10 gallons. <br />F <br />
