Foothill Sanitary Landfill Page 40 of 53 San Joaquin County DPW - Solid Waste
Joint Technical Document Revised 6/09/2020

Foothill Landfill receives approximately 1185 tons per day of refuse (2024 average), therefore
no more than 200 tons of sludge will be landfilled per day, to comply with the minimum 5:1 ratio
requirement of CCR T27. The weight of the incoming sludge will be determined at the scales,
and the operator will process accordingly.

Sludge is deposited atop solid waste at the working face of the landfill and mixed as thoroughly
as possible with the solid waste. The mixture is then spread, compacted, and covered in the
usual manner.

The protection of the health and safety of the general public at unloading areas is accomplished
with the use of signs for information and traffic control, use of attendants at all times that direct
the customers, operators keeping an eye on customers, and portable radios are used on-site for
communication.
