Floor Pits The volume witWn the wastewater pits is controlled by level controls. A veal for the effluent piping is located in the clean floor pit but the water stays well below the piping. Make-up tanks equipped with mixers are used to prepare dilute solutions of bentonite clay, flocculant and sodium percarbonate. The BC 1031 and IM3M drums are stored on secondary containment inside the WWT room. Possible release scenarios include: a A hose coupling failure or leak from the hose after the tank filling operation is complete • Bulk storage tank overflow inside the WVVT room. * Make-up tank overflow during the tank filling operation • Container damage during offloading internal transport or caused by forklift impact + Sludge tank overflow • EQ tank overflow of untreated wastewater ■ Piping or pump failure resulting in a release ofuntrcated or partially lreated wastewater A Cintas Pwrier must be present during the entire duration cif the make-up tank filling process. At no point should the operation be unattended. Boiler Room i Water softener regeneration waste and boiler blowdo n are the two main periodic waste streams in the boiler room. Boiler water conditioning chemicals arc stored in this room and are periodically used in small amounts. The ch=icals are stored in 55 Gallon drums on top of spill containment. A relatively smalI spill or leak involving those chemicals is possible. All discharges from the boiler room area drain into floor drains connected to the mein floor pits and are therefore mixed with other wastewater and treated prior to discharge into the city sewer.
