• Sprayed or wiped with an EPA-registered disinfectant effective against <br /> bloodborne pathogens (e.g., [insert disinfectant name and EPA registration <br /> 0. <br /> • Allowed to remain wet for the full manufacturer-recommended contact <br /> time. <br /> o All disposable barriers (if used) are removed and discarded into regular or <br /> biohazard waste, depending on contamination. <br /> Glove Use <br /> o Practitioners must wear disposable gloves while cleaning and disinfecting trays, <br /> in accordance with HSC §119309(d). <br /> Disposable vs Reusable Trays <br /> o If disposable trays are used, they are discarded after a single use. <br /> o If reusable trays are used, they must be cleaned and disinfected between clients. <br /> If trays come in contact with non-intact skin or contaminated instruments, they <br /> are sterilized via autoclave before reuse. <br /> Tray Covers (Optional) <br /> o Disposable tray liners or barriers may be used and changed after each client for <br /> added protection. <br /> 4< Armrests— Cleaning and Disinfection Protocol <br /> Armrests are direct-contact surfaces frequently exposed to skin, bodily fluids, and ink. To <br /> prevent cross-contamination, all armrests must be cleaned and disinfected after each procedure <br /> and before reuse if used for any other purpose. <br /> Before the Procedure <br /> o Armrests are inspected for cleanliness. <br /> o If the workstation was used for another task (e.g., setup, consultation), the <br /> armrests are disinfected again before the procedure begins. <br /> o Optional: Disposable barrier film or protective covers may be applied over <br /> armrests to minimize contamination. These are changed after each client. <br /> After Each Procedure <br /> o Remove any barrier film or disposable covering and dispose of it in the <br /> appropriate waste container. <br /> o Clean armrests to remove any visible dirt, ink, or body fluids using a disposable <br /> towel or cloth and soap/detergent if needed. <br /> 2 <br />
