4.0 SITE CONTROL MEASURES
This section outlines Site control measures to be implemented to minimize potential exposure to
and accidental spread of hazardous substances if encountered during drilling operations. Listed
below are the work zones that shall be established when contaminated material is encountered at
the Site. The zone boundaries may be modified as necessary as new information becomes
available. Changes to the exclusion zone will be communicated daily, during the Site safety
meeting.
4.1 Exclusion Zone (EZ)
This zone is where there will be direct contact with the potentially contaminated hydrocarbon
impacted soil. The level of PPE required shall be based on the specific hazard, and Site conditions.
The boundary of the Exclusion Zone may be delineated with delineators, caution tape and signage.
Modification to the size and boundary of the exclusion zone will be made in the field based on the
scope of work and the Project Foreman's discretion.
4.2 Support Zone
This area shall be used as a storage area for operations equipment.
4.3 Personal Hygiene and General Safety Requirements
Personnel performing or supervising work within the Exclusion Zone, who may be subject to
exposure to vapors, liquids,or contaminated soil, shall observe and strictly adhere to the provisions
of this HASP. Any FREY employee, subcontractor or authorized visitor found disregarding the
provisions of this HASP will be barred from the Site.
No facial hair, which interferes with the effectiveness of a respirator, shall be permitted on
personnel required or potentially required to wear respirators. Personal Protective Equipment
(PPE) must be utilized by on - Site personnel when deemed necessary. Each individual will be
responsible for the proper inspection of his or her PPE prior to entering the exclusion zone. Hard
hats and safety glasses with side shields will be worn on-Site at all times. Personnel that are unable
to pass a fit test as a result of facial hair or facial configuration shall not enter a work area where
respiratory protection may be required.
No open flames or smoking will be permitted in the Exclusion Zone unless a Hot Work Permit has
been initiated.
FREY Page 8
