Incident Report Awareness
If you have an incident or near miss you must report it to your Supervisor/Manager immediately.
A workplace accident (incident) is "an unplanned, undesired occurrence in the course of work which
leads to physical harm." Accidents may cause harm to workers and witnesses, but also damage to
the employer's property.
A near miss, is a workplace incident that could potentially cause harm but didn't, should be taken
just as seriously as a harmful accident. For instance, if a box fell from a shelf and barely missed a
worker's head, you should conduct an investigation to reduce the risk of a serious accident in the
future.
Medical Emergency Procedure: Survey the scene and evaluate personal safety. Determine if basic
first aid will be needed. Contact the Safety Department for medical treatment requests.
All types of incidents should be reported.
Slips, trips and falls
Being hit by objects
Crashes and collisions
Cuts and lacerations
Inhaling toxic fumes
Damage to property
