Zarc Industrial Hygiene Report Executive Summary: This report summarizes the findings of an industrial hygiene survey conducted at Zarc Recycling, 2422 S. California Street, Stockton, CA 95206, on 10/20/2023. The purpose of the survey was to identify and assess potential hazards in the workplace. Workplace Description: Zarc Recycling’s Stockton facility is a recycling operation that dismantles electronic devices as well as sorting and repackaging materials for shipment. The company employs nine (9) workers at this location. The main processes used in the de-manufacturing or dismantling process are manual processes using power and hand tools. The materials handled include used electronic devices, consisting of different metals, plastics, and circuit boards. Hazards: The following hazards were identified in the workplace: Physical hazards: noise, dust Chemical hazards: none Hazard Assessment: The level of exposure to the hazards was assessed to be minimal as Zarc’s employees are not taking apart hazardous materials and are not crushing any materials. The potential health effects of the hazards were determined using visual inspection of the work environment. There was an inspection done of the of work environment by CHMM consultant on 10/3/2023. Recommendations: The following controls are recommended to reduce exposure to the hazards: Engineering controls: Administrative controls: Workers are free to move around during dismantling so they will not get fatigue standing in one position doing the same activities. Also, there are regular housekeeping each day to clear up work area, surfaces, and tools. Personal protective equipment: Ear plugs, hard hat, eye goggle, mask, cut proof gloves, and steel toe boots Follow Up: The effectiveness of the controls will be monitored by visual observation. Changes to the controls will be made as needed.
