(KLE//VFELOER
Bright People,Bight Solutions.
3 PROPOSED SAMPLING ACTIVITIES
3.1 RATIONALE FOR SAMPLING STRATEGY
This Work Plan has been prepared based professional judgement and the general conformance guidance
listed below:
• ASTM E1903-11 Standard Practice for Environmental Site Assessments: Phase II Environmental
Site Assessment Process
• DTSC Preliminary Endangerment Assessment Guidance Manual (January 1994 Interim Final —
Revised October 2015) (DTSC PEA Guidance Manual);
Kleinfelder proposes advancing six soil borings using direct-push drilling methods to approximately 15-20
feet bgs across the Site to gather soil and groundwater samples to submit for laboratory analysis for
chemicals of potential concern (COPCs). Grab groundwater samples will be collected from open borings.
The goal of this sampling is to investigate potential soil, and groundwater contamination at the Site from
the previous Site use as auto repair, a Chinese laundry, the presence of a 500-gallon gasoline UST within
the El Dorado Street alignment, and the two inactive hydraulic ram elevators.
3.2 PRE-FIELD ACTIVITIES
Pre-field coordination activities will include the coordination of environmental sampling activities,
obtaining permits, scheduling with the Client, and the preparation of a Site-Specific Health and Safety Plan
(HASP).
Kleinfelder will apply for and obtain a drilling permit from the EHD prior to the implementation of field
activities.
Kleinfelder will coordinate with the Client for Site access and scheduling to ensure the safety of both
Kleinfelder personnel. It is Kleinfelder's goal to minimize the impact to onsite operations to the extent
practicable while performing the investigation.
Prior to mobilization, the proposed boring locations will be marked for Underground Service Alert (USA)
with white paint or flags at least 72 hours prior to the start of work and a private utility locater will provide
25001155.006A/ST0240174614 Page 4 of 17 November 8, 2024
©2024 Kleinfelder www.kleinfelder.com
