PERMITTING AND PRE-FIELD WORK ACTIVITIES <br /> Applicable site assessment permits will be obtained from the San Joaquin County <br /> Environmental Health Department (SJCEHD). An encroachment permit will be obtained <br /> for work being proposed in the City of Stockton right-of-way, if necessary. An access <br /> agreement will be obtained for the proposed groundwater monitoring well location. In <br /> addition, a health and safety plan will be updated in accordance with Occupational Safety <br /> and Health Guidance Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities (National Institute for <br /> Occupational Safety and Health Administration, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. <br /> Environmental Protection Agency, 1985). Prior to mobilization, each proposed boring <br /> location will be clearly marked, and a utility clearance obtained through Underground <br /> Service Alert. <br /> 2.2 MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION <br /> AGE proposes to install one additional shallow-screened monitoring well to the north and <br /> northwest of wells MW-1 and MW-2 (Figures 2 and 3). The pilot boring for the proposed <br /> well will be advanced to a total depth of 40 feet below surface grade (bsg) utilizing a track <br /> mounted drill rig equipped with 8-inch diameter hollow stem augers. Soil samples will be <br /> collected at five-foot intervals beginning at five feet to 40 feet bsg to characterize lithology <br /> only. <br /> Procedures for soil sampling, well installations and completion are presented in <br /> Sections 3.1., 3.3. and 3.4. <br /> 2.2.1. Well Development and Survey <br /> Following installation, the proposed well will be developed to maximize water flow and <br /> minimize the amount of fine-grained sediment drawn into the well during pumping or <br /> bailing. After development, elevation and location of the well will be surveyed by a <br /> professional surveyor. Procedures for development and survey are presented in <br /> Section 3.5. <br /> 2.2.2. Groundwater Sampling and Analysis <br /> Following installation, groundwater monitoring and sampling activities will be conducted <br /> for the proposed well on a quarterly basis for a minimum of one year (four sampling <br /> events). Monitoring activities will include recording depth to groundwater measurements <br /> and collection of groundwater samples. Groundwater sample collection protocols are <br /> described in Section 3.6. <br />
