Fco . ANUAO PURAMAXO PACKAGE TREATMENT PLANT:
DESIGN AND OPERATIONAL PARAMETERS
mbined effluent from Lift Stations#1, #2, #3 and#4 will be pumped to the 1Ok gallon
pretreatment settling/flow equalization tank for particulate settling and additional denitrification, as
illustrated on the attached Schematic Design plans. Effluent from this tank will be pumped to the
PuraMax® Moving Bed Biological Reactor(MBBR). The Engineering and Technical Specifications
for the MBBR are found in Appendix J.
In addition, an AiraCarbTM Odor Control System is to be installed per Anua's specifications to
control odors from the MBBR.
VII. FILTER BED DESIGN AND OPERATIONAL PARAMETERS
The treated effluent from the Package Treatment Plant will be pressurized for disposal by a duplex
high-head pump and control/alarm system that will alternate between pumps and supply the new
5,200 ft' filter bed with equally distributed effluent, as illustrated on the Design Plans.
The manifold and eight laterals will be center-feed to compensate for the 100-ft lateral length.
Perforated 1.5" diameter laterals with 1/8" diameter orifices every 3' from the manifold will be
installed within the 3" perforated pipe inside the 18" diameter Infiltrator® EZFIow®modules. The
modules will be installed side-by-side and secured together with strapping, as illustrated in the
Design Plans.
The filter bed size of 5,200 ft' was determined by the following calculations:
Calculated Tack Capacity(CTC):
1,125 gallons + (7,493 gpd ADF x 0.75) = 6,745 gallons CTC. 10k gallon flow eq. tank specified.
Leachline (LL) Requirement= 1,200 gal. Base Tank Capacity(BTC) +7,493 gpd ADF =
8,693 x 0.2 (Sand LL Soil Factor) =1,739. 1,739 x 3 (Sand FB Soil Factor) = 5,216 ftz.
Install 52'N-S x 100' E-W= 5,200 ftz Filter Bed.
At the terminal ends of each lateral, and the manifold, sweep clean-out valves are to be installed.
Clean-out procedures are discussed in Section IX.
Taking the application rate of 0.467 gallons/ft z/day based on a perc rate of 35.7 min/inch, a filter
bed size of 5,200 ftz x 0.467 gallons/ftz/day=2,428 gallons/day the filter bed can theoretically
accept and manage. This ADF volume can be considered more realistic than the complete full-
occupancy total of 7,493 gpd as calculated above. A water meter will be placed on the domestic
water service line of the new well to measure domestic water consumption.
Two Observation/Monitoring Tubes will be installed in the filter bed at locations illustrated on the
Design Plans. One observation tube is to be installed near the NWC of the filter bed and the
second observation tube to be installed in the SEC.
Separation distance between soil-effluent interface and depth to groundwater=
7.3 ft depth to groundwater- (1 ft soil cover+ 1.5 ft EZFIow module dia.) =4.8 ft.
Page -6-
Chesney Engineering, Inc.
