Utilities to be notified include but are not <br />limited to: <br />Pacific Gas & Electric (800) 642-2444 <br />Pacific Bell <br />United Artist Cable Communications <br />Union Oil Company <br />MCI <br />US Sprint <br />Plainview Irrigation District (209) 835-0375 <br />5. <br />The Contractor is responsible for notifying the State <br />Department of Water Resources and the U.S. Bureau of <br />Reclamation at least 7 days prior to beginning work within <br />their rights -of -way. <br />6. <br />The Contractor is responsible for immediately notifying both <br />the County Inspector and the Design Engineer upon discovery <br />of any field conflicts. <br />7. <br />Any deviations or changes from these plans without the <br />written approval of the Design Engineer shall absolve the <br />Design Engineer of any responsibility of said deviation or <br />change. <br />8. <br />The Contractor shall notify the County Inspector at least 24 <br />hours prior to requested/required inspections. <br />9. <br />The Surveyor shall be notified at least 2 working days (48 <br />hours) in advance of when staking will be needed. <br />10. <br />A <br />The County will perform compactions tests when required. An <br />initial test and one -retest will be provided at no cost to <br />the Contractor. Additional tests will be made at the <br />Contractors expense. <br />State <br />Department of Water Resources Notes: <br />11. <br />Control cables connected with the operation of the State <br />Water Project are buried on both sides of the aqueduct <br />within the Department of Water Resources' right-of-way. The <br />Contractor shall contact Underground Service Alert (USA) at <br />1-800-642-2444 (Northern CA), and MCI Telecommunications <br />Corporation at 1-800-624-9675 for information regarding the <br />locations of these cables. Prior to any excavation in this <br />area, the cables shall be located in the presence of a DWR <br />Delta Field Division Inspector (call (209) 835-7106 for <br />appointment) by using hand held tools and their locations <br />and elevations shall be shown on the drawings. Measures <br />shall be taken by the contractor to protect the cables in <br />place. <br />12. <br />A seven (7) day advance notification is required prior to <br />starting work within the Department of Water Resources' <br />right-of-way. Contact the Division of Land and Right -of - <br />Way, Encroachment Permit Section (Brook Baxter), Sacramento, <br />California at (916) 445-9412, and the Delta Field Division, <br />Engineering Branch (Richard Winkler) Byron, California at <br />(209) 835-7106. <br />13. <br />The contractor will be liable for any damage to DWR's <br />control cables as a result of the proposed construction, and <br />for any other resulting damages, including Power, <br />irrigation, Municipal, and Industrial Water Supply, and <br />dommunication losses. Any excavation within three (3) feet <br />of the cables shall be done by using hand held tools. <br />14. <br />All trenches shall be excavated to comply with the most <br />current occupational safety and health administration <br />standards. Trench backfill shall be placed in no greater <br />than. 4-inch lifts if hand compacted or no greater than 8- <br />inch lifts if power compacted. Trench backfill compaction <br />within DWR's Right-of-way shall be compacted to 90 percent <br />relative compaction (ASTM 1557), except across DWR's <br />roadways, and through protective dikes where backfill <br />comptition shall meet 95 percent (ASTM 1557). <br />ROAD CLOSURES- <br />' 15. <br />San Joaquin County has approved the closing of Patterson Pass <br />bridge and <br />Road in the area of the Delta Mendota Canal for the <br />option, an alternate <br />road, construction.
